Episode Notes
Jeff Dockweiler or “Dock” @coachdock1 , talks about the importance of developing characters people care about. With experience in writing, directing, producing, and acting, his unique approach to mastering storytelling has resulted in the highest level of success for the actors he works with regularly.
Jeff has a real passion for storytelling, which he teaches to actors so they can become story experts, as opposed to memorizing lines before understanding the story behind the scene.
Starting out as an actor in L.A. he quickly realized that he was more interested in the creator side of the business, he wanted to have more control into the storytelling process.
When an opportunity presented itself for him to work with writer/producer Stephen J Cannel, he took full advantage of it, and learned very valuable writing skills, which he started applying immediately to his own stories.
Dock’s clients have enjoyed an 80% callback rate, booked jobs in films and tv shows of all kinds like Teen Wolf, Devious Maids, How I met your Mother, The Mentalist, All my Children, Criminal Minds and Homeland, to name a few, on every type of outlet (including all the major studios, networks, cable and streaming networks) and at least one of his clients have booked a pilot every year.
Even during covid, when opportunities were far less available, Dock’s clients booked over a dozen movies and more than 30 episodes of television.
Jeff teaches a weekly class in Los Angeles, as well as a monthly class in Houston and Austin.
